I love it! Hobart and other towns and cities need to get on these people's asses. I'm not talking about people who have a messy yard while they are working on some sort of weekend project. I'm talking about that idiot down yellow brick road who has had that rusty car on cement blocks for the past 6 months.
Yeah, sure, it's their property and in theory they should be allowed to do whatever they want on it. But when it brings down property values of the homes around them, I'm all in favor of throwing the book at these homeowners. Damaging property values of other people should be illegal, whether it's burning down their house or keeping your lawn such a sty that anyone around you selling their house has to convince potential buyers that you're not hiding a meth lab in your kitchen.
I'm open to some ideas here, but hesitant since most often this type of anger leads to rental registrations or some sort of tax.
ReplyDeleteAll too often there are codes on the books that aren't being enforced. Know why? Because the police don't want to, and fire departments demand inspection fees to do it.
